How to Be More Physically Attractive (Men)
Being physically attractive is a vague goal, and probably unattainable;
moreover, attractiveness is defined differently by different people. "Be
healthy" may be a more concrete goal, if you equate attractiveness with
physical fitness. Different cultures define attractiveness in different
ways, and often there are groups of people within those cultures who
define attractiveness entirely differently. Thus it's impossible to give
tips that apply to all or even most individuals.
Steps:
- Believe in yourself. Otherwise you're never going to think you've reached a stage of "attractiveness," even if everyone else does.
- Relax.
Many people, if not all people, are somewhat insecure about their
physical attractiveness. Realizing that others are just as nervous
around the issue will help you stay in perspective.
- Determine the type or types of people you want to attract.
For instance, straight athletic women with corporate jobs or punk guys -
obviously different crowds and therefore different attractions.
- Be comfortable in your sexuality and your gender role.
Not all men have to be masculine! If masculinity is something that you
value and those whom you want to attract also value it, you may want to
accentuate your masculine qualities. On the other hand, some people are
attracted to androgynous or feminine men, or simply men who have a
balance of masculinity and femininity, and won't freak out over wearing a
pink shirt. Only you will know what fits you best, and what those whom
you want to attract are interested in. The key is to identify your
sexuality and gender role and become comfortable with it.
- Find clothes that fit your image.
If you don't feel like you're as attractive as you would like to be,
clothes and other accessories can help you feel more confident. Whether
your look is professional, casual, preppy, punk, emo, country-western,
urban or some combination of these, your clothes will help communicate
who you are, and who you want to be. Choose clothes that accentuate your
best features. If you have a muscular torso, go ahead and wear smaller
shirts that will show it off. If you have nice eyes, accentuate their
colour by wearing the opposite colour on the colour wheel - if you have
blue eyes, wear orange; this will make your eyes stand out.
Tips:
- Ask for honest advice of those you trust about your physical
appearance. But remember that their ideas about what is attractive may
NOT be the same as your own. It may be more useful to identify to
yourself what you want to change, and then ask for advice on how to do
it. For instance, if you want to be more athletic, ask advice of a
particularly athletic friend for becoming more physically active. If you
want to pull off the hipster look, ask a friend who's already rocking
it out -- they'll probably love to help you!
- Keep a positive attitude. Many people worry about their physical appearance -- you're not the only one!
- Decide if physical appearance is what you want to focus the most on.
If you are looking to attract people who put a lot of emphasis on
appearance, they will make a lot of demands for you to keep up your own
appearance. For some, it's more satisfying to find people who are but
don't think of it as their only mission in life.
- Spend time in social situations. Even if you are hitting bars alone,
go just to check out the scene but don't put pressure on yourself to
meet someone or even talk to someone.
- Do some homework and get familiar with the hot hangouts or good
places to meet people. Once you have yourself packaged you can go back
with knowledge of the landscape.
- Smiling easily and often will help people to be more attracted
towards you. It's an important facet of your personality (It's just
showing your "better" side!).
Warnings:
- Anorexia and bulimia are serious medical conditions that affect both
sexes. In most social circles, they are unattractive qualities. If you
have an eating disorder, seek professional medical attention.
- Set realistic body-building or toning goals, then push to exceed
them. There is a risk of injury if you improperly use exercise
equipment. Read the instructions or ask a friend or trainer.
Things You'll Need:
- A Place to Meet People (to give you motivation)
- Stylish Clothes (your style for confidence)
- A suitable haircut for you that matches the image you are going for
- A perfume
